Gold Coast

The Gold Coast of Greenwich Village encompasses seven blocks of lower Fifth Avenue, extending north from Washington Park up to 14th Street. (Not to be confused with the various Gold Coasts of Long Island, Brooklyn or Connecticut, among others.) Once home to Eleanor Roosevelt and luxury hotels now converted to apartments, much of the Gold Coast belongs to Manhattan’s first historic district, established in 1969.
