You know when you are walking down the street with your significant other (Mrs.Z) and you are stopped by an old girl friend (yes like 12 years ago)? She is holding the hand of her husband of 4 years and you share a quick hello, goodbye, you look great and nice to see you? As you walk away holding your loved one (yes, Mrs. Z- I do not want to be with anyone else, ever……despite your over the top shopping habit!) there is always a weird feeling, like, what if or ok, that part of my life just came back and is now gone again…..

Well that is how I felt when I went to the new Ditch Plains in the former Rain space at 100 West 82^nd street.  We were the lease holders from 1995 up until 2010, when we abruptly closed BarBao.

Marc Murphy, the Chef and owner has been a friend and colleague for years and I was very happy for him that he secured the space and transformed it into his new UWS joint , Ditch Plains. Marc’s empire has been growing for the last 5 years and he knows his market.

Ditch Plains offers some really good bites, including fried oysters, deviled eggs, burgers, dogs and of course , their signature lobster roll.

Service is really good and I really liked what they did with the space, especially the bar….

I know this joint will be a success, but it still feels like he is making out with my old girlfriend………………………….
